Garlic Chives

  • What is it?

    Nira is available all year round in Japan. It has long green, thin leaves that look like blades of grass. The herb has a distinctive garlic-onion flavour and smell.

  • How can it be eaten?

    The leaves are used chopped in a similar way to chives. They can be added to stir-fries, soups, stews, dumplings, salads, omelettes and marinades.
